DML in SQL Developer

Hi,

Can anyone please help me out why i can't add and modify records in the table directly?

e.g. I click a table on left side its data will appear on the right side then when i am trying to update or add any new row over there its stopping me to do that. Right now i have to write sql to add or update the row which is very tedious job.
