DLT-S4 backup suddenly takes for ever

I have a DLT-S4 backup drive and I have noticed that suddenly the backup takes forever. It backing up 400 GB in 9 hours. Then out of the blue it started backing up 440 GB in 15 hours and now for 450GB it takes 21 hours. Do you have any idea what might be causing this?
