Display of Hourglass When Page is processing

I am having 4 to 5 Checkbox items. Which have to displayed based on certain conditions and based on these we are setting the Queries of other items.

We are calling Ajax while setting the query based on what user clicks.

So it is taking time while processing, during that time i wanted to Display Hourglass so that User can know page is Processing..

I have tried by giving hourglass but it is not working as that hourglass displays once function gets over. If anybody having solutions to this , Please post
