Display of Czech characters (Discoverer Desktop vs Discoverer Plus)

Hello everyone,

I'm a business „power user", so please be patient with my description of the issue:

* I work with the following end-user / developer tools on a Windows XP PC:
# SQL Developer (Version 1.5.1)
# Discoverer Plus 10g (Version 10.1.2.54.25)
# Reports Builder & RWRUN
# Discoverer Desktop (Version 10.1.2.1)
# Microsoft ODBC for Oracle for connecting via Accesss

* Database = 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.2.0 - 64bit

bq. Here are the CHARACTERSET parameters on the database:
bq. NLS_CHARACTERSET AL32UTF8 \\ NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET AL16UTF16

In our Czech datawarehouse, the Central European characters are correctly stored as follows:

bq. (a) "České Budějovice 5" (correct)

With some end-user tools, this is displayed / exported as follows:

bq. (b) "Ceské Budejovice 5" (not the same!)
* SQL Developer and Discoverer Plus both display (and export to Excel) correctly (a)
* With SQL Developer I can choose to export TXT files in "cp852".

* Discoverer Desktop, Access ODBC, and Reports Builder all display and export (b)
* For TXT batch reports using RWRUN, I am able to manually change the NLS_LANG on my PC to "EE8PC852" using regedit: resulting in "¬esk‚ BudØjovice 5"

What do I need to do / configure (or put in my SQL) in order to get Discoverer Desktop and Access ODBC to correctly show / transfer (a) "České Budějovice 5" ?

I've already experimented with various NLS_LANG entries via regedit, but cannot get Discoverer Desktop / ODBC access to display the characters as SQL Developer is doing....

e.g.

ENGLISH_UNITED KINGDOM.AL32UTF8

ENGLISH_UNITED KINGDOM.UTF8

CZECH_CZECH REPUBLIC.EE8MSWIN1250

... plus many more!

What else can I try?

Thanks for any help of pointers,

JimmyG
