disk full error!

556470Mar 2 2007 — edited Mar 4 2007
hello everyone, I have a bit of a problem, namely that my Linux disk is nearly full, all the datafiles are on another partition, however there is obviously something that’s causing the data in the oracle folders to balloon, I did a bit of exploring in the directories and in the app/oracle/admin folder there are three other folders representing the names of the three databases I have created, the first 2 folders are small in size, totaling a few megs each, but the contents of the third folder are:

adump bdump cdump dpdump pfile udump

And in the bdump folder there are 1.2 gigs of trace files, what are trace files? Do I need them? Can I delete them? If I can delete them can I do this in the file system or must I do it in oracle? Is there a setting in oracle that limits the amount of trace files that will be created?
