Discoverer Locking Up - dll problem?
530085Aug 24 2007 — edited Sep 4 2007I'm going to also look for some tech support on this, but I find the people in these forums to many times have a better understanding of the product than even tech support. So I want to ask it here as well.
Discoverer is locking up on some users in my office. It will be working fine for a good while, then just lock up. The error signature looks like the same every time:
AppName: dis4usr.exe
AppVer: 4.0.0.0
ModName: sh31w32.dll
ModVer:3.1.0.0
Offset: 00001dd8
Anyway, I think the error has the most to do with that sh31w32.ddl, but I can't seem to pinpoint what to do. Did some research at MetaLink and the closest fix referencing the sh31w32.dll was this:

Install the 10g IDS full edition onto the Discoverer Adminsitrators pc. Then copy the SH31W32.dll from the Discoverer Administraor's pc from the C:\winnt\system32 directory. Copy the SH31W32.dll to the C:\winnt\system32 directory of the User's PC. The desktop edition should now open successfully.
That's not my version of Discoverer (we are still on version4 with Oracle 8i), but I gave it a shot anyway. It didn't work. There's not much more to say about the symptoms other than it's just locking up. Anyone have any similar experiences with this and might know what I can try?
