Discoverer application error

Our users are encountering a new problem with Discoverer 4.1.37

When they try to change conditions on some reports, intermittently they get an application error which appears related to the smartheap dll sh31w32.dll

It appears as well that they generate tmp files, and leftovers of these appear to co-incide with the issue.

On my own machine, I never get this issue and I do not generate tmp files.

There is no difference in setup or install or dll version between our machines. What is wrong?
