I am very new to discoverer, so my question is very basic. Our Company has two EUL. one whose version is 4i and another whose version is 3i.

There are few reports which were built using the version 3i EUL. We needed to migrate these reports to 4i. I need to stress here that we have 4i already installed. I installed version 3i of discoverer to find what are there in the EUL. I have a very basic question here.

When we log on to the Discoverer Admin we enter a username and password. Is this an application username and password or Database account. Suppose i want to upgrade the EUL , from which id should i login. Is this an Apps id or database login ???

Do we need to create a separate user especially for logging into discoverer admin or can we use an apps account. It would be great if any body explains , from which id do we generally login in admin.

What is the importance of colon(:) after the username while logging in to discoverer??
