Disable data guard temporarily

2931117Nov 15 2016 — edited Nov 22 2016

Hi All,

We have our oracle database 12c in Azure cloud and I enabled data guard with maximum performance configuration. We haveĀ  1 primary server and 1 standby server another server as observer and all are running on Windows 2012 R2. Our management wants to disable the standby/Observer and shutdown these 2 servers and wanted to turn on later after couple of months. As I have data guard broker enabled in this situation and I wanted to know how to safely disable the data guard and re-enable it for later use. I don't want to remove all the configuration and re-do the work again and I just want the primary database to be running as a simple standalone till that time. So please suggest what will be the best solution for this case.
