Disable and enable Indexes

Hi,

I have one stored procedure having one cursor and then update statement. The table which is getting updated has around 50 million records and 12-13 indexes. Is there any way in Oracle 9i; we could disable all the indexes before update and then enable them after update. This has to done in the stored procedure itself.
