dirname and basename did not work after linux patch

Friends,

We have a shell script works well before linux (Linux 2.6.32-400.33.2.el5uek x86_64) patch last month.

Based on debug issue in

export PLOC=`dirname $0`

export PDIR=`basename $0`

The testing message as

export PLOC=`dirname $0`

dirname: invalid option -- b

Try `dirname --help' for more information.

How to fix this issue?
