DirectX vs OpenGL

843799Jul 22 2002 — edited Jul 24 2002
I have tried both DirectX and OpenGL J3D to load the demo "Text3DLoad.class". I have found that the DirectX was using only 44%-45% CPU usage where OpenGL was having 55%-60%. I have heard and tried it before that OpenGL was really having better performance than DirectX but now this result surprises me. Here is my system spec:

AMD Thunderbird 700
256MB PC133
Asus A7V
Asus V6800(GeForce 256 DDR 32MB)
Win2k Pro SP2
DirectX 8.1
nVidia reference driver 29.42
Using GeForce Tweak Utility with all these checked:
Emulate Fog Table
Enable DirectX Acceleration
Texel Alignment
Enable video texturing
Color key compatibility

If I get any other results comparing the DirectX and OpenGL version, I will post again.
