Difficulty removing targets from OEM 12c Console

BillWApr 8 2013 — edited Apr 18 2013
Greetings,

I am upgrading my OEM from 11g to 12c using the Enterprise Manager 12c Upgrade Console and the 2-System method. There are some target hosts which are obsolete and so I am not going to deploy/configure the 12c agents. I would like to remove them from the 12c console. I realize I must remove all the targets monitored by the agent on each of those hosts, then remove the agent and then remove the target host. I have successfully removed all the monitored agents but when I attempt to remove the agent the OEM throws a message indicating an error and that I must check the logs.

I am not concerned with uninstalling the agent software on the host targets as the servers will probably be taken out of service although that has not yet been done.

First thing I am unsure of is which logs I must check to determine the source of the problem. I have found the steps for manually removing a decomissioned host from the repository. Metalink Note 454081.1 provides that information but that raises two further questions. That note is for release 10. to 10.2, is there a similar note for 12.1.0.1? Also, is it really necessary to remove the targets by updating the repository via sqlplus?

Thank you.
