Difference between UltraSPARC-IV+ and Six-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor

I just want to compare the below machines, i am not sure how on what basics i should compare, more over i wanted to know how many threads each of these processor can run in parallel.
Please guide me to understand the virtual processor concept on this regards. thanks in advance.
