Difference between EXP and RMAN

Hi Guys,
I am learning some processes on how to take a backup on Oracle 10. I see there are 2 most commonly approached used EXP and RMAN, My Questions are
1) what the differences are between EXP and RMAN?
2) When I shold use exp and when I should use RMAN?
