difference between DSN & TNS

Hi All

I would be glad if someone could clear this doubt of mine.

What is the difference between a Datasource name(DSN) which we use in Windows boxes to connect to various databases
&
TNS which is a file on the Oracle client boxes

Do they serve the same purpose or they are different
