Difference b/w UCM and webcenter Content Server

Hi,

I am using Web Center portal and want to use UCM and not the file system. So can I configure and connect to UCM without installing WebCenter Content server. Please let me know the difference between UCM and WebCenetr content server.
Is ther any content management server integrated seperately with WebCenter portal or in any case we will have to use WebCenetr Content Server only?
