Did anybody encounter this typical issue? please help me.

Mine is Dell Lattitude D830 laptop.
Windows XP is the operating system

When i install forms/reports 6i, could not connect to server database. when i tried to connect with SQL* plus, got error "SQL* plus encountered problem. needs to close. sorry for the inconvenience".

When tried to connect to db from forms 6i, error "Forms encountered problem. needs to close. sorry for the inconvenience".

When tried to connect to db from reports 6i, error "Reports encountered problem. needs to close. sorry for the inconvenience".

I tried after applying patch 18 but still the problem persists.

Please suggest how to resolve this.
