Desktop Shortcut Problem with Firefox

843802Jul 12 2007
It appears that the correct shortcut icon is not created on the desktop if the Java Web Start application is started using Mozilla Firefox. The shortcut icon which is created is the generic Java icon.

Has anyone experienced the same problem?

I'm testing on Windows Vista, using Java 1.6.0 update 1. With Internet Explorer 7 , Firefox 2.0.0.4.

I run my webstart application using Internet Explorer which puts the correct shortcut icon in the desktop as I've specified in my JNLP file. I remove my webstart application from the cache Java in Control Panel. Then I run my application with Firefox. A shortcut is created but with a Java icon instead. If I remove the application from the cache and try IE, then the correct icon appears.

So there must be a bug with Java Web Start shortcuts and Firefox.

Any suggestions as to why it doesn't display the correctly icon as the shortcut using Firefox?
