Designer 6i Meta Model

We wish to import into a Designer 6i repository the 6i meta
model from the file ORACLE_HOME\Repadm61\ckmeta61.dat

We are receiving the error message IMP-00037: Character set
marker unknown. Our repository is an 8.1.7 database with
the WE8ISO8859P1 character set.

Has anyone ever successfully import the ckmeta61.dat file into a Designer container?
