Design Editor; Design Capture - Latest Findings

Rod DavidsonDec 9 2013

Can someone verify what I'm suspecting is reduced service in the Design Capture capabilities of Designer V 10.1.2.6 ?  The capture of Tables and PL/SQL seems to be working fine, but when using new syntax in VIEW scripts in the database, several phrases cause the Design Capture to CRASH with no warning or error messages.  Specifically using CASE statements instead of DECODEs now fail.  And many of our views have FROM statements written with "..... LEFT JOIN <object> ON <condition>" syntax.  These also cause the Design Capture to CRASH.

The capturing of Views has been useful for building diagrams of view presentations rather than raw table structures.  Of course we also capture the views simply to have complete modeling captured in the Designer Repository.  [Is it time for us to shift over to SQL Developer as our complete modeling tool?]

Thank you for any ideas on this topic,

Rod Davidson
