Depreciating recently introduced features in new releases, creates trust issues on tool

subin ashok5 days ago

Most of newly introduced features are being depreciated in newer releases which is creating some sort of trust issue on platform.
For example list view was one of useful region available and was introduced recently and now in newer version of oracle apex its under legacy.

This is completely untrue. “Most” new features have not been declared to be legacy or deprecated.

Neither has anything to do with “depreciation”.

For example list view was one of useful region available and was introduced recently

Hardly. List View was introduced as part of jQuery mobile support for APEX 4.2 in October 2012.

now in newer version of oracle apex its under legacy.

More modern and flexible alternatives in the form of Template Components now exist.

Please refer apex.oracle.com latest workspace for example, and look for list view, column toggle report, reflow report. I am not referring about “list” region, i was referring about list view region, which was only available in mobile applications.

The one that i have mentioned here is what i noticed in latest version "Legacy region".

Also please watch introduced and depreciated ( “legacy” ) features of oracle apex from 18 version to 24 latest version closely in oracle apex workspace or documentation.

I know exactly what List View and the other region types are and that they are deemed to be legacy components as of APEX 24.2. I also know that they were all introduced 10 years and more ago. They therefore cannot be considered to be “newly introduced features”, and their obsolescence is thus in no way surprising.

which was only available in mobile applications.

It wasn't, but that's beside the point.

Please note the difference in spelling and significantly different meanings of deprecated and depreciated.

To enumerate things:

A removal or replacement rate of 2.5% of new features introduced in 13 releases over a 7 year period clearly shows the claim that most of newly introduced features are being deprecated in newer releases” to be unsupported by facts.
