DELETE ARCHIVELOG ALL BACKED UP n TIMES does not work

rysalkaOct 6 2009 — edited Oct 6 2009
Ughh...So frusturating! We are on Oracle 10.2.0.4, RMAN with catalog and Data Guard (with broker).

I am taking hot backups on primary and cold backups on standby. Before taking my backup I am running "maintenance" commands to delete archivelogs that were backed up to disk more then 2 times. I am expecting RMAN to a) delete them from OS level and b) delete their reference from control file and RMAN catalog:
run {
allocate channel d1 device type disk;

delete noprompt archivelog all backed up 2 times to DEVICE TYPE disk;
crosscheck archivelog like '/data/flashback/PROD%';
delete noprompt expired archivelog like '/data/flashback/PROD%';
release channel d1;
}
I check and see that archivelogs do not get deleted from the OS level. Disk space is an issue, so I can't keep more then 2 days worth of them.

Any ideas? Thank you!
