Default value of select list item and some other issues

On my page I have Select Lists with Display Null Value: No. I have also a report, depending on this items. When I first load the page, the report returns "no data found" because according to my session my select lists are with values "null" although I see values in them. I am pretty sure that wasn't like that before apex4, is that something new?
Second issue: let's call my items LIST_ITEM_1 and LIST_ITEM_2. For LIST_ITEM_2 I set Cascading LOV Parent Item: LIST_ITEM_1. This works perfect for the items - whenever I change LIST_ITEM_1, LIST_ITEM_2 is refreshed but it also refreshes my report and it returns no data again... How can I keep my report until i press Search?
And question 3: Is it possible to export a report as text (tab delimited)?
