debit and credits

dear fellows i have table
say trans_m
with fields
vno,vdate,
and trans_d with fields
vno(fk),vdate(fk) dr_amount,cr_amount

now i wish to implement that sum of debit and credit should be equal for any tranaction but if i use triggers it give me mutating error any comment plz
