Dbx could not initialize rtld_db, freshly patched Studio 12

When I try to debug a simple C++ application with I get the following error from dbx:

dbx: warning: Dbx could not initialize rtld_db
dbx: internal warning: could not enable secondary rtld synch event
dbx: internal warning: could not enable primary rtld synch event

laptop> uname -a
SunOS laptop 5.11 snv_90 i86pc i386 i86pc
laptop> CC -V

laptop> dbx -V
