DBNEWID Utility

Hi all,

11.2.0.1

I am renaming our database (NEWPRODDB) to a new name. But I got error

$ nid target=sys dbname=NEWPROD setname=yes

DBNEWID: Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production on Thu Feb 13 19:32:07 2014

NID-00109: DBNAME string length 9 exceeds maximum length of 8

Change of database name failed during validation - database is intact.

DBNEWID - Completed with validation errors.

Any ideas please?
