dbms_alert.waitany is hanging forever

user3006396Mar 15 2016 — edited Mar 15 2016

Hi,

We have been using multi-thread job on 4 thread.

As data keep on increasing, we were not able to complete all batch jobs in estimated time.

So, we increased multi-thread count from 4 to 12 threads.

In Production it ran successfully for 3 cycles(4 times monthly).

But after that it got hanged during dbms_alert.waitany.

Noticed that only 6 threads out of 12 got successfully completed.

So, need to ask DBA to kill those threads as they have been running for hours.

One more thing is, there are few programs using the same batch job and are successful with 12 threads.

Only this particular job fails with 12 threads.

If you have faced similar situation, please share your experience.
