DBID before critical database restore?

3414508Mar 24 2017 — edited Apr 11 2017

Hello everyone,

I have question regarding DBID, In many guides and oracle documentation is said that you need to set DBID before you can restore your SPFILE.

"Restoring the SPFILE is one situation in which a recovery catalog can simplify your recovery procedure, because you can avoid the step of having to record and remember your DBID. This procedure assumes that you are not using a recovery catalog."

Ok so, im a lil bit confused, so i cant set FRA so i can specify SPFILE without seting DBID? Even in this article, DBID is set -

Of course im talking about situation where database completely dissapeared but we have full backup with all files needed like archivelogs, controlfile, spfile and FRA is set to the location where backup was stored.
