DBCA Problem: invalid entry CRC (expected 0x17bfc398 but got 0x5a3a42a3)

Hello Everyone,

I stumbled accross the following problems when running oracle 9i dbca under FC4:

When the installation progress reaches 24% the following message is displayed:
'invalid entry CRC (expected 0x17bfc398 but got 0x5a3a42a3)' and the database configuration stops.

Please, can anyone give me advice on how to tackle this problem?

I had no exceptions returned in the console, only some messages like:
Font specified in font.properties not found [--symbol-medium-r-normal--*-%d-*-*-p-*-adobe-fontspecific]
Warning: Cannot convert string "<Key>Escape,_Key_Cancel" to type VirtualBinding
Warning: Cannot convert string "<Key>Home,_Key_Begin" to type VirtualBinding

which do not seem to be related to this problem.

In addition I have certain issues with oracle user's ulimits so that when I log in as user oralce I receive the following message:
-bash: ulimit: max user processes: cannot modify limit: Operation not permitted

Some info about my installation:
2.6.17-1.2142_FC4 i686 i686 i386 GNU;
Installed oracle 9i.
I think I use jre1.3.1_15, but to be honest I am not very sure as I am new to linux and what I did was to install locally this jre in a folder accessible to oracle (/opt), and setting the path to it. Initaily I had in /usr/java jre 1.6.0. and later removed it (by deleteing it).

Please, if anyone has a clue on this subject, let me know. I have no idea if this is connected with the jre version on with some other issue, and as I am new to both linux and oracle this baffles me completely, not to mention that googling this problem was not very helpful.

Thanks in advance for any comments and have a nice day :)

Vassil
