DBCA Copy Database from Template Issue

david.masseyMay 21 2011 — edited May 21 2011
Can anyone shed some light as to why the following may have happened?

Using the DBCA (GIU) 11g (11.2.0.1) Standard Ed on Win Svr 2008:

1 - Created a template of an existing database (selected both structure and data).

2 - Created a database copy using the template, selecting a new location for storing the datafiles/ control files etc... (C:\ORADATA).

All was fine, the new database was created successfully, and the source database was fine, I could still query the source. However... when the offline backup kicked in on the source database, the instance would not restart, on further investigation the source database V$DATABASE view contained the instance name of the copy database, on reverting the name back to the source, all was well again. Also, all user accounts were locked.

Does anyone have any suggestion as to why this may have happended?

Thank you,

Regards,

David.
