DBA -> Pizza Hut

marksmithusaMay 31 2013 — edited Jun 5 2013
A few (maybe ten...) years ago, I happened upon something in MOS/Metalink - not sure whether it was an article or a bug/request - that did make me chuckle with such joy and mirth that I favorited it in at least three MOS accounts across the years.

I think it was around the time 10g was first released- a DBA had taken such umbrage to the 'auto-tuning' enhancements Oracle was pushing that he went completely and fantastically MENTAL and started ranting about how Oracle was trying to obsolete DBAs and biting the hands that fed it for so long.

It was an epic read - this guy was basically saying the DBA career path five years' hence would consist of competing with spotty-faced teenagers for pizza delivery jobs - and the best bit that the poor CSR didn't get his sense of humour and thought he was serious and tried to reason with it.

Oracle allowed it to be visible for a surprisingly long time, but I can't find it anymore. Does anyone else remember this completely random document on MOS? There's a distinct possibility I'm imagining this - it's the sort of strange thing that only I would find funny (and consider doing myself)...
