dba_data_files, dba_temp_files

Hi,
I am looking at one of our databases now and see that there is no data in dba_temp_files, all files which were allocated to TEMP (TEMPORARY) tablespace appear in dba_data_files.
I wonder if this can be right! Apparently one of them is being used, because I see one temp segment in this data file which is being used heavily.

v$tempfile is also empty!

Question is, is it possible to add datafile, not tempfile to temp tablespace? I wonder how it is all working then?
