db size & datapump export/import

GKJoeSep 3 2012 — edited Sep 4 2012
Dear DBAs,

I am seeing a peculiar issue in my database environment; I did full DB datapump export from server A and imported to server B. DB Server A is ~120 GB in size and Server B is ~160 GB in size after import. I am not able to understand 40+ GB increase in size in imported database B. Can you please help me understand this?

- Verified that none of the tables are compressed in A.
- Database stats are updated.
- Extend allocation is continous in B. There are certain free blocks, which is meager compared to 40+GB increase.

Server A:
OS – AIX 6.1
Oracle – 11.2.0.2
DB size – select (sum(bytes)/1024)/1024 MB from dba_segments where owner not in ('DBSNMP','SYSMAN','APPQOSSYS','SYS','OUTLN','SYS') = 120+ GB

Server B:
OS – RHEL 5.5
Oracle – 11.2.0.2
DB size – select (sum(bytes)/1024)/1024 MB from dba_segments where owner not in ('DBSNMP','SYSMAN','APPQOSSYS','SYS','OUTLN','SYS') = 160+ GB

Thanks,
G
