DB facing memory pressure and need more memory?

ChewyFeb 27 2014 — edited Sep 6 2016

Hi All,

DB: 10g and 11g

Need your advise.

On monthly basis we have been providing the db server memory & cpu utilization report to the management.

The server average memory utilization is more or less the same every month as memory allocated to oracle is capped (eg, memory_target).

As such, we will not be able to tell if the memory allocated to the DB sufficient and when does it need more memory?

We are required to provide a utilization report to show that the memory allocated to the database itself is sufficient on monthly basis and doesn't require beefing up.

Is there any good way to provde this?

Our DBs are all OLTP and seldom doing full scan.

Initially thought providing the trend of BHCR (above 90% means memory is sufficient). Read alot of documents that BHCR is no longer useful.

Any better way to do it? Kindly share ur experiences.

thanks
