datapump file split

User_U9EN2Jan 17 2020 — edited Jan 21 2020

Hi All,

I am using data pump to backup my schema (size ~5Tb). But my backup directories each don't have so much single full space.

There are 3 mount points of 2 TB each free.

a) Can I spilt my .dmp files to fit into the 3 mount points.

b) Does the data pump process equally divide 5TB among 3 mount points.

c) How will be the impdp command reading multiple files.

d) Can I use parallel=6 or higher, is it related to number of channels or cpu cores

1. create 3 data pump directories pointing to 3 mount points. (dp_dir1, dp_dir2, dp_dir3)

2. Expdp -> expdp system/pwd directory=dp_dir1  dumpfile=dp_dir1:exp1%U.dmp, dp_dir2:exp2%U.dmp, dp_dir3:exp3%U.dmp  logfile=dp_dir1:exp.log  schemas=accounts parallel=3

How will be the impdp command reading multiple files..
