Oracle Database Discussions

i am confuse about the datafile maxsize.

I thot when there is a maxsize on the datafile, once it reaches the maxsize, it can no longer go beyond it. Meaning one have to create another datafile on the tablespace.

But to my new realization, the datafile still can be resize. Which cause a confusion now, as in so what is the maxsize for? if datafile still can be resize beyong the maxsize?


So now i can resize it. I am telling oracle to ignore the maxsize that i have set on that datafile?
