Database Upgrade from 9g to 11g. Does it mean a TopLink upgrade ?

We currently use Oracle 9g and TopLink 9g and would be upgrading to the 11g database. Question is whether we can stay at TopLink 9g ? We would like to stay at the current toplink version if at all possible, at least for a while. Not sure if upgrading db to 11g and staying at toplink 9g may potentially lead to any issues. Any feedback would be appreciated.
