Database switchover/switch back, can goldengate extract continue?

Zhimin BaoFeb 18 2019 — edited Feb 20 2019

Hi,

I have a primary database Oracle 12.1 Enterprise, it has a physical standby database, active data guard.

An Goldengate extract runs against the primary.

Planed test:

1.  stop OGG extract

2.  switchover database to standby

3.  run for a few hours

4.  switchover again to original primary

5.  start OGG extract

Will I see any problem at Step 5?  Or will it just continue to catch up and keep going?

I assume the scn/logs won't get reset for the above two switchovers, correct?  That way, OGG extract should just continue.  I suppose that is how it works, I just don't have an environment to see it myself before we can do our above test.

Could anyone please confirm if you know the answer?

Thanks,

Erin
