Database started with PFile

David DrabbleMay 19 2017 — edited Jul 5 2017

Hello all,

During a very small window when we were allowed to shut down our servers for a brief time, I was asked to add some more memory to one of our databases as advised by Oracle Support. I was asked to change Max memory and Memory target.

I was given 10 minutes, but before I had the chance to finish, we were told to abort the change and just get the system back.

I had run create pfile from spfile in case I created any problems, but before I had chance to finish the complete changes, i was told to leave the database up.

After looking at our dataguard standby in Grid, I noticed a couple or errors including ORA-16797 - the primary database is not using a SPFile.

We can live with the dataguard environment not updating for the time being.

The problem is that I am not allowed to restart the database. The business has told us that any other changes must be done mid week at 2:00 am. So the database will have to keep running in this state until then.

My question is will there be any issue created from the situation between now and then.

The database is 11.2.0.3 running on Windows 2008 R2 in a dataguard environment.
