DATABASE RECOVERY

Hi Gurus,

Database : 10g R2

I want some light on instance and media recivery in context of SCN no.

How the following nos in v$database behaves and corelate each other for doing instance & media recovery. How oracle knows and crelate with this info for doing recovery.

cols from v$database:
==============
CURRENT_SCN
CHECKPOINT_CHANGE#
CONTROLFILE_CHANGE#
ARCHIVELOG_CHANGE#
