database locking jbo.locking.mode=optimistic

all,

i have an adf jheadstart application and i'm experiencing major locking issues. i've read the documentation and several blogs which recommends setting the jbo.locking.mode=optimistic to avoid these locking problems. i set this property for all the application modules in my project and the application module is still acquiring locks on my db tables. can anyone help me figure out what i'm doing wrong? my application has basically been reduced to a single user environment bc of these problems. please help!
