Database is not shutdown properly

My database version :11.1.0.7
Today i shutdowned my database it is not shutdowning.
i tried more than five times and finally i shutdowned through shutdown abort but now it is working fine.
i checked my alert log there is
License high water mark = 5
what it means.when shutdown the database alert show the above line.
is this any critical problem.
If Yes Please guide me to solve.
