Data Replication with Oracle

Is anyone using Oracle replication or third party software for disaster recovery? ie. Veritas.

We are in the information gathering stage of our disaster recovery project. We are looking to replicate our data to an offsite location. Our database version is 8.1.7 and we currently have standard edition. From what I have found, our options are standby database, standby database with replication of online redo logs or full replication. I am a bit concerned about the impact to database performance, as well as the integrity of data at the offsite location. If anyone has any insights for me it would be greatly appreciated.
