Data Obfuscation and Encryption

593025Sep 9 2009 — edited Sep 9 2009
We're having our colons examined for a PCI-like compliance audit, and I've a question regarding data file obfuscation and encryption. We have an oracle RAC, both nodes running 10.2.0.2, and we're not using TDE. I was asked, and I couldn't answer, whether the data is obfuscated in some other way. We are using ASM, and I can't find a way to browse to the ASM filesystem to access the files outside of the database. Does ASM offer any kind of compression or obfuscation that would make it difficult to read the files?

Can you even get to the data files in an ASM instance?

Thanks in advance...

Dan
