Data Location VS Metadata Location

Hi

When you double click a module and there is this screen popped up which has three tabs, name, metadata location, data location.

First, could anyone explain what is difference between metadata location and data location?

Second, if I issue the two commands below:

OMBALTER GATEWAY_MODULE 'M_DB2' SET REFERENCE LOCATION 'L_DB2'

OMBALTER GATEWAY_MODULE 'M_DB2' SET PROPERTIES (DB_LOCATION) VALUES ('L_DB2')

What actually did each of the two commands do? Which changes metadata location, and which changes data location?

And last, on the metadata location tab, if location is set to <Unspecified>, what could be (bad) effect?

You could correct me if I'm wrong.
