Data import from text file with pipe delimiter

We are loading data to one of our table from a text file with pipe(|) delimiter through TOAD v8.0. The record count on the text file shows 12lakh odd records, while after loading data to the table the record count is 8lakh odd. It does not give any error after the import is done and it says import successful.
Please assist regarding this mismatch between line count on textpad and data count on tables.
