Data Block Corruption?

846231Jul 18 2012 — edited Jul 20 2012
Hi all,

OraDB 11.2.0.1

Today, we just encountered this error in oue PROD db. This is the first time we hit this.
Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01578: ORACLE data block corrupted (file #
5, block # 136230)
ORA-01110: data file 5: 'C:\ORACLE\ORADATA\ORAJVB7\DATATS01.DBF'
ORA-26040: Data block was loaded using the NOLOGGING option
My boss ask what are the usual cause of this issue.
I just said, power fluctuation and the disk is already old and brittle.
It this a valid explaination?

How do you handle this issue?
Is the ff. acceptable too?

startup nomount,
recover database.

Thanks a lot,
