CVS and where are apex projects stored ?

Sorry for these stupid questions :

1- Where are the apex projects stored : in the server's file system or in the Oracle database ?
2- Can we use any cvs/subversion for these projects ?

I looked at the documentations but I could not find it. I may miss those information in all of the docs.

Any hints are really appreciated.
