Cutomization of Error Message Definition in OIM

Hi,

I need to perform a customized Error Message in OIM, Please find the following steps which i followed,

1. Created a custom Error message in Error Message Defn
2. Edited xlWebAdmin.properties file for the custom error message entry(Is this step correct or is there any
other way)
3. In the Adapter factory to add a logic task Handle error task

Here I'am not getting any error message defn listed or even the custom one from which i can add the error defn for my adapter.

Can you please help on the same, Is there any other method i should follow,
